11/17/23 - 17 arrested in 48 hours after 2 fights at separate schools in Acadiana - Port Barre, La (KADN) In just one week there were two fights in Acadiana schools. Almost 20 people have been arrested for school violence involving not only students, but parents too. These fights have been caught on video and 17 arrests were made in a 48 hour span.

6/17/23 - Louisiana awards over $20M to harden school perimeters - BATON ROUGE – The Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) is investing over $20 million to harden the perimeters of schools across the state. Today, the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) approved the LDOE’s Stronger Connections Grant program allocations to 39 traditional public and public charter systems. The funds will be used to keep students and teachers safe by reinforcing single-points of entry.
